MEMORIAL JOAQUIM SERRA 2026 coblas MEDITERRÀNIA and SANT JORDI CIUTAT DE BARCELONA The Agrupació Cultural Folklòrica Barcelona has traditionally organised this Memorial, which grew out of the Joaquim Serra Prizes, independently of the events programmed by its Amics dels Concerts section. It has passed through Barcelona's most important halls — Palau de la Música, Teatre Romea, Auditori Axa, Auditori de Barcelona — until it was thought best to integrate it into the Teatre de l'Aliança series, keeping its own organisational structure. As every year, a free work commissioned from a composer who has never written for cobla will be premiered. This year's chosen composer is the Catalan Sílvia Lanao. From the unpublished music left by Pepita Llunell (1926-1915), one of her suites will be premiered, marking the centenary of her birth. In addition, the coblas Sant Jordi-Ciutat de Barcelona and Mediterrània will perform a selected programme in memory of the master Joaquim Serra. The Memorial has been presented for many years by the Sabadell broadcaster Jordi Saura.
