'Music, Rights and Business: Everything an Artist Should Know' Workshop

5 November 2026 · 19:00

Centre Cívic Sarrià, Sarrià, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi

Making music today involves much more than composing and stepping onto a stage. Every song, every performance and every contract involves rights, obligations and decisions that can shape the future of an artistic project. In this talk we will discover how to protect your own work, understand who is who in the music industry —publishers, producers, managers, collecting societies— and learn about the most common contracts any artist will encounter throughout their career. We will also discuss practical issues that often raise questions: how to invoice and pay tax correctly, what legal options exist for formalising a music project, and how self-publishing and digital distribution work on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. A session designed to provide real tools for artists, composers and anyone connected with the music world who wants to develop with greater confidence and judgement within the industry. Led by Ferran Alemany, musician and legal consultant specialising in intellectual property and music law.
