What is mythology? What did temples mean? We will examine Eastern cosmogonies and pantheons, their deities and syncretisms, which had a major influence on thought, politics and everyday life in the Fertile Crescent. We will also understand how these ancient Eastern beliefs and myths were essential to the development and acceptance of new religions, such as Christianity, in the ancient Mediterranean.
