'New Objectivity. German Painting between the Wars' Cultural Workshop

Teacher: Eduard García. After the First World War, Germany was devastated, without hope or a future. In this context, society sought new ways of thinking, relating and creating. New Objectivity is the name given to the painting that emerged from this moment of crisis: painting that, faced with devastation, returned to figuration, moving away from Expressionism and everything perceived to have led to war. This return to figuration, however, was charged with political and social criticism, becoming a mirror of the modern and advanced society born in the so-called Weimar Republic.
