'Ocupar les golfes' Exhibition

Ocupar les golfes. Imaginaris de l'emergència residencial is an artistic proposal by Ada Fuentes and Biel Llinàs reflecting on the tensions surrounding contemporary housing in Barcelona. Starting from the idea that inhabiting also means contesting space, the project questions the home as refuge and presents it as a place of conflict, negotiation and precarity. The exhibition brings together several artistic-research projects developed since 2020, exploring the housing crisis through the experience of shared flats and rising housing costs. Concepts such as self storage are used to analyse both the accumulation of objects and the commodification of everyday life, where even the individual becomes one more element to fit into increasingly reduced spaces. Through installations, photographs and other formats, the project highlights how imaginaries of the home —often influenced by aspirational and media models— contrast with the reality of precarity and urban inequality. In this context, housing ceases to be a right and becomes an object of speculation.
