How did simultaneous interpretation, an essential tool for international communication today, come about? The exhibition "One Trial, Four Languages: The Pioneers of Simultaneous Interpretation at Nuremberg" invites you to discover the origins of this modern profession through one of the most decisive events of the 20th century: the Nuremberg Trials. Organised by AIIC Spain, the exhibition focuses on the interpreters who, for the first time officially, made simultaneous communication between English, French, Russian and German possible during the trial of the main leaders of the Nazi regime after the Second World War. Their work guaranteed the right to a defence and laid the foundations of a profession essential to international organisations, institutions, companies and events worldwide. Curated by German interpreter Elke Limberger-Katsumi (an AIIC member), the exhibition brings together content in four languages, historical photographs and materials illustrating both the technological and the human challenge of this historic milestone.
