'Opera: From Its Origins to Mozart' Cultural Workshop *NEW*

Teacher: Joan Sebastià Colomer. We will explore the evolution of opera, from its origins with Monteverdi to the consolidation of Classicism, with special attention to Gluck's reforms and Mozart's opera seria. Along the way, we will also approach the great Baroque masters such as Handel, Purcell and Rameau. Through contextualised study and listening to particularly representative works, we will analyse the formal, social and musical transformations that defined each period, highlighting the processes of change and continuity that have shaped the history of opera.
