'Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya - OBC' Concert

Show title: L'OBC A LA MERCÈ. Symphonic music – Barcelona. Another symphonic date with the OBC for La Mercè. This year, the Polovtsian Dances from Prince Igor by Alexander Borodin open the concert with an explosion of colour and rhythmic energy. Conceived as part of an opera that the composer was unable to complete, these pages have taken on a life of their own thanks to their evocative power: melodies with Eastern-inflected roots, exuberant orchestration and an irresistible choreographic drive. Béla Bartók's Romanian Dances, written in 1915 from Transylvanian folk melodies, distil in just a few minutes the essence of his aesthetic project: the transformation of folklore into a modern language. The concert culminates with Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, one of the most beloved ballets in the repertoire. The selection of excerpts, chosen by conductor Miguel Sepúlveda, confirms the lyricism of music with great symphonic voltage, combining melodic delicacy and dramatic tension.
Part of the programme: Mercè 2026. 103 activities in Barcelona, from September 23 to September 27. All free.
