'Parkinson’s Is Not Just Tremor: Towards Early Detection' Conference

4 December 2026 · 11:00

Centre Cívic Casa Golferichs, la Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample, Eixample

Parkinson's disease is often associated with tremor, but not everyone with Parkinson's experiences this symptom, and those who do may also experience many others. In addition, the disease begins invisibly years, or even decades, before the first visible symptoms appear, whether tremors or otherwise. For this reason, much current research focuses on early detection and on developing treatments that can be applied before neuronal damage becomes too extensive. Led by Rubén Fernández-Santiago and Yaroslau Compta Hirnyj, heads of the IDIBAPS research group 'Malaltia de Parkinson i altres trastorns neurodegeneratius del moviment: recerca clínica i experimental'.

Part of the programme: In Search of Health. A la recerca de la salut: 3 activities in Barcelona, from October 6 to December 4. All free.
