Mariona Camats (La Garriga, 1997) represents the essence and continuity of Pau Casals's musical world in a new generation of cellists. Her connection with the master is deep: a pupil of Lluís Claret (Casals's godson), in 2016 she received the Beca Internacional Pau Casals from a jury chaired by Marta Casals Istomin. In her repertoire, Camats keeps alive the memory of Casals's circle by performing works by Enric Casals, Emmánuel Moór and Bach's Cello Suites. With an established international career and profound respect for tradition, Mariona Camats is today an essential voice for paying tribute to Pau Casals as both a person and a musician.
