“Pla de Barcelona 2026-2035” Model and “Making Of” Exhibition

The Pla de Barcelona 2026-2035 model was created to mark the World Capital of Architecture and will remain permanently on display at the former headquarters of publishing house Gustavo Gili beyond 2026 as one of the key elements of its legacy. Beyond being a physical representation of the city, the model is an educational and urban-analysis tool for citizens, conceived as an instrument for knowledge and public outreach. It helps people understand what Barcelona is like, how it was formed and how it has grown over time. It is conceived as a living object that can be easily updated to incorporate new transformation areas and strategic projects being defined by the city for the coming years, allowing the future evolution of metropolitan Barcelona to be visualised. One of the model's main strengths is its high level of detail, especially in buildings and developed spaces, providing an image very close to the real city. This precision, made possible by advanced 3D representation technologies, artificial intelligence and digital printing, makes it easier to recognise neighbourhoods, streets and landmark buildings.
