'Reading Theatre: Beyond the Word' Cultural Workshop

Teacher: Nan Vida. Theatre is written to be performed, which is why it is not read like a poem or short story. We will explore the pleasure of reading theatre aloud and discover how dramatic texts come to life through words, voice and shared imagination. After a brief historical and theatrical contextualisation of each piece, roles will be distributed among participants and we will carry out what is known in theatrical jargon as table work: reading aloud in order to explore the characters' inner worlds and the meaning of dramatic actions. No previous theatre experience is required, only a desire to read, learn and participate actively.
