'Romantic Comedy: A Love Story in Crisis' Cultural Workshop

Teacher: Sara Lasauca. During the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s, romantic comedy occupied a central place in the collective imagination around love. Titles such as When Harry Met Sally, Pretty Woman and Notting Hill became major successes and genuine cultural touchstones. Today, however, the genre seems to have lost ground… but is that really the case? We will analyse the genre's classic codes, visual motifs and character types, and how all of them have changed over time, up to recent attempts to revive romantic comedy after #MeToo.
