'Secrets of Great Film Scores' Workshop

Why does a melody make us immediately identify a character? How can music make us feel excitement, fear, tenderness or suspense before anything has happened on screen? And what do great film scores have in common with opera and classical music? This one-off workshop offers a fascinating journey through the world of film music to discover how composers build emotions, create characters and tell stories through sound. Using excerpts from well-known films, we will learn to listen to soundtracks with different ears and discover some of the musical techniques that have made these works an essential part of our collective memory. No previous knowledge of music or cinema is required: only curiosity and a desire to listen.
