Show "a.travessa.da" with Piny

This work is a lecture-performance in which the artist tells stories and shares personal archives as well as material collected over many years. The artist explains: “I question performance, I question academia, the body, and I weave together plants, the city and social processes of destruction and construction of cultures and bodies. In the plural. Literally, it means being traversed by something, by many things. Being crossed through. Being mischievous, causing trouble. Serving myself up on a tray. Being an alleyway between two larger streets. Being a crossing.” Piny was born in Lisbon and is of Portuguese and Angolan heritage. She holds degrees in Dance and Architecture. She is a performer, dancer, educator and choreographer, working at the intersections of traditional dances from the SWANA region, street dance, club culture and ballroom culture. She has created works including Periférico (with Vhils, 2017), HIP. um ponto de vista de buceta (2019), . G Rito (2021) and ONYX (2024).
