In 2026, fifty years since the death of Agatha Christie are being commemorated. She was one of the most influential authors in the history of mystery fiction. To mark the anniversary, this autumn we will devote a series to exploring the evolution of crime fiction, from the classic puzzles Christie made a benchmark to reinterpretations by contemporary women writers. We will discover how they have made Christie's legacy their own, transforming its rules, settings and characters to speak about today's world without losing the pleasure of mystery or the essence of the genre. Organised by: Tina Angrill (Tusquets). Sue Grafton takes the legacy of the classic mystery novel and transfers it to contemporary American noir. With detective Kinsey Millhone, an independent and complex investigator, she replaces theatrical set pieces with a more realistic and psychological investigation while preserving the pleasure of the puzzle. The result is a modern update of Christie's model, connecting detective tradition with late-20th-century sensibilities.
