Temporary Exhibition "Snowflake: Revisiting an Icon"

19 November 2026 – 15 January 2027 · 10:00

Centre Cívic Baró de Viver, Baró de Viver, Sant Andreu

Snowflake (Nfumu Ngui) was an albino gorilla from Equatorial Guinea who became a symbol of Barcelona. By altering archive images and using materials such as glass and paraffin, which were present in the animal's biography, the project refers to his colonial origin and the instrumentalisation that turned him into a key figure in the city's popular imagination. The artist explores political constructions, the interests of power and collective amnesia surrounding Snowflake, paying him one final visit in order to distance himself from the gentle, nostalgic image he himself absorbed during childhood.
