“A jazz singer with a global perspective”, The New York Times wrote of singer Thana Alexa, who was born in New York, is of Croatian heritage and is fluent in many languages and styles, as well as being co-founder and musical director of the Ponta Lopud Jazz Festival in Croatia. We saw her in 2024 as the singer in her husband Antonio Sánchez's Bad Hombre group during our International Jazz Day celebration on passeig de Gràcia (this year she returned as a special guest of Quiet Colors), but now we have the opportunity to welcome her festival debut as a leader with her new project and several star guests (and there will surely be more). Thana Alexa's proposal for this very special night at Jamboree is to give us a taste of her forthcoming album, on which she reimagines music ranging from the Beatles and Björk to Nina Simone and Stevie Wonder. At Jamboree, she tells us, the idea is to recreate the intimacy of these duos with the addition of vocal loops and electronic effects. An intense night of jazz with friends in the heart of Barcelona surely awaits. Thana Alexa, vocals and electronics.
