'The Botanical Species of the Vertical Forest' Workshop

Vertical gardens and forests are a creative and efficient way of bringing nature into urban spaces. In this workshop, you will discover CaixaForum's Vertical Forest and delve into the plant world to learn how to observe details such as shape, texture, colours and patterns carefully. We will begin by discussing the importance of scientific drawing today and discovering what the work of a scientific illustrator involves. In the second part, a professional scientific illustrator will share key ideas and practical tips to help you improve your nature-drawing skills before creating your own illustration. Lucía Gómez has a degree in Fine Arts and a diploma in Restoration and Conservation of Cultural Heritage. She became involved in naturalist and scientific illustration after completing several specialist courses and being selected for the Il·lustraciència award. Her work is exhibited in art galleries and includes both landscape scenes from natural environments and detailed representations of the animal and plant worlds.
