Works to complete plaça de les Glòries have made the cluster of houses and warehouses between the former Encants Vells site and Carrer del Consell de Cent, between Independència and Cartagena, disappear. The demolition of two Modernista buildings from 1916 at numbers 600 and 602 on Carrer del Consell de Cent raised alarm among residents who had forgotten that what was disappearing was a neighbourhood born in the 19th century: barri del Pont.
