'The Conspiracy of Rhythm: Rodrigo Laviña' Talk

1 June 2027 · 18:30

Biblioteca El Carmel - Juan Marsé, el Carmel, Horta-Guinardó

How can we conspire together to give new meanings and rhythms to our words? They reach us worn and broken, abused by a system that destroys shared languages. How can we meet through sounds, through imagination and through slogans? How can we fight through the words we are able to say and the songs we are able to sing? Rodrigo Laviña is a bookseller and musician, a member of the La Ciutat Invisible cooperative, interested in cultural questions and in intervention through music. Active in music since the late nineties, he was a pioneer of hip-hop in Catalan. He has played — and still plays — in various bands such as Extraño Weys, Rodrigo Laviña y su combo, At Versaris and Pirats Sound Sistema, releasing many records recognised by audiences and critics alike. This musical obsession has taken him to play around the world, from the USA to tours across Europe, Spain and countless towns, neighbourhoods and cities throughout the country. He is also a collector and music curator. Prior registration required (from Tuesday 18 May, 4 pm).
