'The Conspiracy of the Wicked: Ana Carrasco Conde' Talk
3 November 2026 · 18:30
Biblioteca Sarrià – J. V. Foix
We live in times dominated by conspiracy fears. Wherever we look we see villains conspiring to profit from our misery, and behind any undertaking or proposal we imagine some hidden agenda pulling the strings of our actions. How can we imagine a world where social interaction is not dominated by the threat of a conspiracy of the wicked? Can we conspire to transform and improve the places we live in? What is the relationship between thought and conspiracy? Ana Carrasco Conde is a philosopher and lecturer in Philosophy at the Complutense University of Madrid. A specialist in German idealism and Romanticism, trained in ancient philosophy, her philosophical concerns centre on the dark side of reality (evil, unease and terror) and its least digestible aspects (pain, death, hopelessness). Her work focuses on the unsayable and the unrepresentable. Her best-known books include Decir el mal (2021) and La muerte en común (2024). Prior registration required (from Tuesday 20 October, 4 pm).
