"The Feline Goddesses" Lecture

2 December 2026 · 18:30

Centre Cívic Navas, Navas, Sant Andreu

Egyptian gods are characterised by being depicted half human, half animal. Among the animals sacred to the Egyptians were felines — domestic, like the cat of the goddess Bastet, or lionesses, like the goddess Sekhmet. We will look at some of these deities and the divine animals they were shown with. Led by Núria Castellano i Solé, doctor in History, specialist in Egyptology and member of the Archaeological Mission at Oxyrhynchus.

Part of the programme: Ancient Egypt Series. Cicle de l'antic Egipte: 4 activities in Barcelona, from September 9 to December 2. All free.
