"The Haunted Youth" Concert

The Haunted Youth show is supported by Liveurope, the first pan-European initiative supporting concert venues in their efforts to promote emerging European artists. Liveurope is co-funded by the European Union's Creative Europe programme. It may be a little late to suggest a name change for his project, but Joachim Liebens surely also thinks that The Haunted Youth doesn't quite describe his sound. Rather than haunted, the youth Liebens sings about seems captured. Encapsulated. The two records this Belgian musician has released so far are like a snapshot of the tumultuous years before adulthood. The slightly distorted songs of Dawn of the Freak and Boys Cry Too move between euphoria and anguish, that typically youthful mix of feelings that also defines bands such as DIIV, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and Yumi Zouma.
