'The Revolutions that Buried the Middle Ages' Cultural Workshop *NEW*

Teacher: Marc Pons. A journey through some of the main social and political revolts that marked the end of the Middle Ages in the territories of the Crown of Aragon and the Iberian Peninsula. We will analyse the conflict between the Biga and the Busca in Barcelona, the struggle of the remença peasants against feudal abuses in Catalonia, and the Revolt of the Brotherhoods in the Valencian Country and Mallorca. We will also briefly look at the Revolt of the Comuneros in Castile and the Irmandiño revolts in Galicia. Through these episodes we will discover how peasants, artisans, craftspeople and urban sectors challenged elite privileges and helped transform a society in crisis. A journey for understanding the social, economic and political changes that opened the way to the Early Modern period.
