"The Right to the City: The Hillside Neighbourhoods from Sant Genís to Trinitat Nova" Exhibition
25 September 2026 – 13 December 2026 · 08:30
Seu del Districte de Nou Barris, la Guineueta, Nou Barris
An exhibition curated by Fernando Marzá and Neus Moyano that traces the recent history of the neighbourhoods on the slopes of Collserola, where terrain, infrastructure and planning decisions have shaped — and often made difficult — everyday life. Through images and accounts of residents' struggles, the exhibition champions the "right to the city" as a collective achievement: access to transport, decent housing, health, education and cultural services that build community. "Housing, health and education" portrays a landscape of 1960s housing estates and self-built homes, and the constant struggle to improve spaces, services and public space. It recalls the protests against the 1953 Regional Plan under the slogan "No to the regional plan. Yes to a people's plan", as well as the urban transformation of Trinitat Nova. The exhibition also covers the area's strength in health and social care — from Vall d'Hebron to the Mundet site and the former Mental — and its educational achievements, from schools in struggle and teaching reform to adult literacy and today's training projects.
