Teatre CCCB, el Raval, Ciutat Vella

Arundhati Roy, one of the most critical and committed voices in contemporary culture, talks with writers and essayists Laila Lalami and Pankaj Mishra about the political, cultural and moral challenges of our time. Over four decades of thought and writing, Arundhati Roy has given us one of the most lucid analyses of the contemporary world. With a prescient eye, she has questioned the effects of nationalism, capitalism and technology, and documented their impact on the public sphere and private life. In this session, Arundhati Roy talks with Laila Lalami, whose work has explored migrant experiences, racism and social inequality, and with Pankaj Mishra, writer and driving force behind Equator magazine. The three will reflect on the world to come and the human values we will need to face it. The event is co-organised with Equator, a new international magazine devoted to politics, culture, literature and the arts that seeks to rethink the world from a global perspective, giving a voice to thinkers from every part of the world beyond the Western gaze. Moderator: Pankaj Mishra. Participants: Arundhati Roy and Laila Lalami. Simultaneous interpreting English-Catalan.
