'The World Wars and the Interwar Years: Society, Culture, Economy and Alliances' Cultural Workshop *NEW*

Teacher: Rokayah Navarro. Between 1871 and 1914, nobody in Europe believed in wars, revolutions or major upheavals. Radicalism and violence seemed entirely impossible in the age of reason. Europe stood at the head of the world, with no armed conflicts during a long period of peace. This naïve confidence in reason, with the hope that it would prevent a mistake at the last moment, was perhaps Europeans' only error. Yet the warning signs had certainly been there for some time. We will examine the causes and contexts that led to the two most atrocious wars of the 20th century and the years between them, as a necessary interlude.
