A manor house. He inherits. They sustain. A farmhouse spanning several generations where all the weight falls on the heir: the Cadell. In this closed and apparently unchanging world, the continuity of the estate and family name seems to depend on a single figure. Yet behind this apparent order, the women are the true protagonists and the ones who sustain the everyday life and memory of this family universe. With El Cadell, Josep Maria Miró —winner of Spain's National Prize for Dramatic Literature and one of the most internationally recognised voices in contemporary Catalan theatre— returns to TNC after successes such as Fum and Temps salvatge. In this new piece, Miró explores dynamics of power, inheritance and identity in greater depth, combining local roots with universal reach. Director's text.
