The title and subtitle arise from the difficulty trans* people themselves often experience in accepting ourselves and becoming aware of who we are. But transition is not experienced only by us: everyone around us also goes through it, which is why it is important to understand this experience in a natural and compassionate way. Recognising that these experiences form part of human diversity is essential in order to share them with those close to us and with people who may play a supportive role. This knowledge can help support children, adolescents and young people exploring their gender identity or expression, while also helping create more respectful, welcoming and inclusive spaces for everyone.
