Teacher: Laura Benguerel. Today, most buildings are designed to surprise and sometimes resemble large-scale sculptures. While some skyscrapers twist or break into crystalline facets, others pursue the most extreme, pure and subtle simplicity. This leads us to reflect on whether there are still canons to follow today or whether technology is the only thing limiting architects' creativity. We will analyse trends and design approaches, sometimes opposed to one another but undoubtedly fundamental to understanding the directions 21st-century architecture is taking.
