'Vuit' Exhibition by Frederic Amat
11 July 2026 – 1 November 2026 · 11:00
La Virreina Centre de la Imatge, el Raval, Ciutat Vella
Curator: Valentín Roma. It is difficult to understand the career of Frederic Amat (Barcelona, 1952) without considering the role played in its development by the many poets, writers, playwrights and philosophers with whom the artist has been in dialogue from the 1970s to the present. Vuit is an exhibition bringing together some of these “conversations” around words, images, lines and questions. From the previously unseen short film Al filo (2026), conceived specifically for La Virreina with Chantal Maillard, to collaborations with Mark Strand, J. V. Foix, Octavio Paz and Guillermo Cabrera Infante, among others. Paraphrasing Peter Sloterdijk, Vuit reminds us of the extent to which artistic creation is a long epistle with multiple senders.
