'Why Contemporary Art Seems So Strange to Us' Workshop *NEW*

We will trace the leap from classical art to contemporary practices to answer the question: why is so much contemporary art perceived as strange, inaccessible or even “not art”? Through clear examples and visual comparisons, the talk shows how art progressively stops focusing on technique and representation and becomes idea, context, action and experience. Key milestones are explored —from the break with academic painting to the arrival of the everyday object in the museum, performance, conceptual art and digital practices— to understand that the change is not a loss of quality but a transformation of language.
