'Within the Walls. The Cradle of Modern Architecture in Catalonia (1872-1962)' Exhibition

The Edifici Històric de la UB hosts an exhibition on the origins of modern architecture in Catalonia. The exhibition focuses on the former Escola d'Arquitectura and devotes significant space to Antoni Gaudí as part of Any Gaudí. On 16 April at 18:00, the Universitat de Barcelona opens Within the Walls. The Cradle of Modern Architecture in Catalonia (1872-1962), a proposal recovering the memory of the former Escola d'Arquitectura and its key role in the transformation of Barcelona. The exhibition has particular significance because it occupies the very space where architecture was taught for almost a century, from the late 19th century until the 1960s. This heritage setting, located in the Edifici Històric de la UB, still preserves emblematic spaces such as the library, the director's office and staff rooms, introduced through photographs, exhibition materials and guided visits. As part of Any Gaudí, the exhibition pays special attention to Antoni Gaudí, who studied at the Escola and graduated in 1878.
