Led by Xosé Díaz, Professor of Philosophy. The submission accepted by women during early Christianity was not always the same or shaped in the same way. We know, and have evidence, of women's active presence during the first centuries of Christianity's expansion. Deaconesses, apostles, preachers, evangelists, holy women, martyrs, hermits and nuns: their presence was fundamental to the social and ideological construction of Christianity. There were particularly compelling models: Mary, mother of Jesus, and Mary Magdalene, companion, evangelist and apostle of Jesus.
