Workshop "Indian Embroidery - Lambani"

No previous embroidery knowledge is required. The Lambani, or “Banjares”, are a semi-nomadic people from southern and central India. Their embroidery uses mirrors and shells, intense colours and geometric designs. We will learn their basic stitches using lines of overlapping stitches and combine them on fabric in a festive range of colours and patterns. Materials for the first day: basic sewing kit (thread, scissors, rulers, embroidery hoop, pins and marker). Led by Misako Mimoko.
