Chinese ink invites us into a dialogue through its language. The philosophy and aesthetics of Zen painting do not feel a need for perfection. The traditional Sumi-E method invites experimentation and Zen practice through ink and the oriental brush. It is an attitude, a moment of mindfulness in which a movement is imprinted, making imperfections and unrepeatable forms visible on paper. By seeking opposites and complements, a unique brushstroke is born. We will learn to compose by experimenting with different types of brushstroke, strength and rhythm in the line.
