'7 Ships, 7 Stories' Exhibition

Through seven vessels, seven stories are told by seven characters from different periods, recounting surprising maritime adventures. The exhibition addresses universal themes such as the discovery of the world, the sea as a place for leisure, life aboard an ocean liner, the sea as a setting for conflict, cargo and its handling, piracy and privateering, and technological change. The ship Santa Maria de la Victoria, a 20th-century sloop, the ocean liner Royal Edward, the mixed-use vessel City of Paris, the container ship Pilar, an 80-gun ship of the line and the xebec Santa Cristina are the seven protagonists of the exhibition's different sections. Connected with each of these vessels are testimonies from characters including a female stevedore, a naval officer, a Barcelona beachgoer from the 1930s, a ship's captain from 1890, the son of a cartographer from 1300, a cook aboard an ocean liner and a 17th-century woman whose children have been kidnapped by pirates.
