Fundació Joan Miró, Centre d'Estudis d'Art Contemporani, was created with the aim of bringing art closer to people, and Joan Miró's work coexists there with exhibitions of contemporary and emerging art. Today, the Col·lecció, featuring a significant selection of Miró's works spanning his entire career, is displayed throughout the rooms designed by Josep Lluís Sert, where the art enters into dialogue with the natural surroundings and architectural space. Walking through the Fundació's indoor and outdoor spaces allows visitors not only to approach Miró's work in a distinctive way, but also to generate entirely new experiences along the route. The La Col·lecció exhibition is structured around different themes highlighting two essential gestures in Miró: identification with Catalan land and culture, and a constant need for self-reassessment through an ongoing dialogue with the avant-garde. Together these gestures allow the artist's work to move beyond the individual and become universal.
