Fabra i Coats. Museu d'Història de Barcelona, Sant Andreu, Sant Andreu

The exhibition tells the story of Fabra i Coats de Sant Andreu (1903-2005), which became Spain's most important textile company at the beginning of the 20th century. It portrays what working at the factory was like, working conditions and the company's distinctive welfare policy towards its workers —most of whom were women—, who enjoyed more favourable conditions than elsewhere in areas such as health, retirement, family, housing, the company shop, sport and leisure. It also addresses the different labour conflicts that took place, most of them in step with events and uprisings occurring in the city: the 1919-1920 lockout, collectivisation during the Spanish Civil War and workers' struggles under Franco, among others.
