A lyric tragedy in two acts with music by Vincenzo Bellini and a libretto by Felice Romani. I Capuleti e i Montecchi retells the story of Romeo and Giulietta from Italian sources predating Shakespeare. Premiered in Venice in 1830, it was first presented in Barcelona on 14 July 1832 at Teatre de la Santa Creu and reached Gran Teatre del Liceu on 8 June 1854. Led by María José Anglés.
