Planeta Vida interprets today's Earth as the result of interaction between the planet's chemical and physical environment and living beings. Rivers, mountains and oceans are closely connected with the organisms that inhabit them, and together they form a global ecosystem that regulates conditions on the planet. This holistic view of Earth and life, integrating all disciplines of the natural sciences, is the backbone of this permanent exhibition, structured into three areas: 'La biografia de la Terra', 'La Terra avui' and 'Les illes de ciència'. The first, 'La biografia de la Terra', describes a journey through the history of life and its co-evolution with our planet. 'La Terra avui' explains what Earth is like today. These two areas display objects from the Museu's heritage collection. 'Les illes de ciència', semi-permanent and renewable areas, are small exhibitions in isolated spaces within the permanent exhibition dealing with subjects such as evolution, nomenclature and classification, the Mediterranean and animal behaviour.
