Vestíbul principal de l'estació de metro Ernest Lluch - L5, la Maternitat i Sant Ramon, Les Corts
On the 25th anniversary of his death, Fundació Ernest Lluch has created this exhibition in the entrance hall of the metro station named after the former Minister of Health, professor, economist and political reference point. Ernest Lluch was a key figure in improving Catalan and Spanish society. An economist, professor and politician, he served as Minister of Health from 1982 to 1986. He is considered the father of the General Health Law, which decentralised health services to the autonomous communities and laid the foundations for Spain's current universal healthcare system, a model recognised around the world. Lluch was a firm defender of citizens' rights and public policy; knowledgeable about both Catalan and Basque realities, he consistently defended dialogue as a path to resolving the Basque conflict, ideas that made him a target of the terrorist organisation ETA, which murdered him on 21 November 2000. The exhibition highlights his political commitment as well as his distinguished academic role and can be seen in the entrance hall of Ernest Lluch station on Line 5, opened in 2021 and used by more than 9,000 people every day.
