Do you know what geological processes are? What effects do erosion, sedimentation and volcanism have? You can discover this at CosmoCaixa's Mur geològic. The Mur geològic at CosmoCaixa is made up of seven large real sections created by different geological processes that have helped shape the planet's structure. Mur geològic is one of CosmoCaixa's emblematic features. Each section illustrates a geological structure and is accompanied by an experiment showing the geological processes that created it. Some are surface processes, such as erosion and sedimentation, while others are internal processes such as volcanism, faults and folds. With geology within reach, we can enjoy the beauty of seven pieces of rock from different locations, measuring a total of 24 metres in length and weighing more than 90 tonnes altogether. Each illustrates a geological process that has been fundamentally important in the structure and formation of the planet.
