'Extraterrestrials. Is There Life Beyond Earth?' Exhibition

What if we were not the only living beings in the universe? The search for life in the cosmos, its history and the ways it has been represented in the arts are at the heart of this exhibition. For thousands of years we have wondered whether there is life on other planets. For the first time, scientific and technological advances are providing some answers to this mystery. "Extraterrestrials. Is There Life Beyond Earth?" explores the fascination generated by the idea of extraterrestrial life, how we have imagined worlds beyond our own, and some possible futures projected through science and technology. The route includes interactive elements, models, real objects and audiovisual material. The exhibition begins by locating us within the cosmos, because understanding our place in it leads us to ask whether extraterrestrial life exists; it presents the philosophical dilemma this would pose; considers how human imagination has depicted worlds beyond our own in art, cinema and literature; and, through scientific evidence, projects some possible futures if inhabited planets were discovered.
