'Immediate Future: Transforming Metropolitan Public Space' Exhibition

Metropolitan public space evolves with our needs. This exhibition reveals how AMB, with more than 40 years of experience and an innovative perspective, is tackling seven major contemporary challenges through projects that transform the territory and prepare the metropolis for a more sustainable and resilient future. In 2026, coinciding with Barcelona World Capital of Architecture and the UIA Congress, AMB presents an exhibition at the former Terminal Drassanes in Port de Barcelona focused on the major present and future challenges facing metropolitan public space and the responses offered through projects currently being promoted. This forward-looking perspective grows from a legacy of forty years of continuous work, an experience that grounds and gives depth to the exhibition's content. Curated by Albert Gassull and conceived by Direcció de Serveis de l'Espai Públic, the exhibition is structured around seven contemporary challenges —Adapt, Reconnect, Move, Recover, Care, Equip and Inhabit— that define the territory's major issues and help explain how current projects explore new ways of responding to the metropolis's emerging needs.
