Oliva Artés is a meeting point between the way the city has taken shape over time and its future potential. This former workshop-factory, built in 1920 and devoted to producing and repairing machinery, is now a Museu d'Història de Barcelona space in Poblenou. It has been conceived as a participatory museum-laboratory on the history, legacy and heritage of the contemporary city. It also works with neighbourhood associations and study centres such as Taula de l'Eix Pere IV, l'Arxiu Històric del Poble Nou and l'Associació de Veïns i Veïnes del Poblenou. The permanent exhibition Interrogar Barcelona. De la industrialització al segle XXI can currently be visited at Oliva Artés. It examines Barcelona's trajectory from the 18th century to the present day from different angles including work, demography, immigration, social conflict, territory and industrial development.
