KBr - Barcelona Photo Center, la Vila Olímpica del Poblenou, Sant Martí

Minor White (Minneapolis, 1908-1976) was a key figure in 20th-century American photography, both for his innovative photographic work and his important role as a teacher at prestigious institutions including the California School of Fine Arts, George Eastman House and MIT. Through his editorial work as co-founder, editor and director of Aperture magazine, he was also positioned at the epicentre of American photographic debate in the second half of the century. This exhibition —the first retrospective of his work organised in Europe— offers a comprehensive overview, including his most representative subjects —nature photography, portraiture and street photography— and paying particular attention to his work with sequences, which he usually presented in portfolio format. Some are being shown in Europe for the first time. A selection of documents —contact sheets, books and magazines— completes an overall view of Minor White as an author, editor and curator. Curator: Carlos Gollonet —Chief Curator of Photography at Fundación Mapfre—.
