"Nate Smith" Concert

Nate Smith is one of today's essential jazz drummers. Rooted in the purest jazz tradition, his music also moves through funk, soul and psychedelia, supported by prodigious technique. He makes his debut at our festival as a bandleader in the same year that he also debuts as artistic director of the father of them all, the Newport Jazz Festival. “Nate Smith is a leader who will surely leave his mark on the jazz of the future,” Newport founder George Wein said of him in 2019. He was absolutely right, and we will experience it in person at Apolo.
