The ground floor displays ancient and medieval sculpture up to the 14th century, with the Romanesque relief L'aparició de Jesús als seus deixebles al mar, attributed to Mestre de Cabestany and originating from the Benedictine monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes, among the highlights. The first floor brings together sculpture from the 15th to the 19th centuries, with a strong representation of Renaissance and Baroque Castilian sculpture and examples from most Spanish sculptural schools. The basement (room 12) contains most of the stone sculpture in the Museu collection. Sculpture shares the space with other artistic collections which, although present in much smaller proportions, remain noteworthy. These include gold and silverwork, furniture, textiles and, above all, painting, with medieval panels among the highlights. The collection's iconographic richness and the diversity of materials and types are other inherent and complementary aspects of the historical perspective which, through known and anonymous artistic personalities, introduces visitors to this singular collection and to the world of Hispanic sculpture.
